Improving health equity is a topic that really pulls at my heartstrings because I was raised in a low-income household that heavily relied on government benefits and social service programs. I’ve seen firsthand how health inequity impacts the people that I love. I’ve also seen the media blame marginalized populations for their own poor health outcomes. In reality, so many of my own family's poor health outcomes were deeply linked to access to vital resources like care, food, affordable housing, etc. I’m passionate about my work with Unite Us because we serve as an agent of change in improving health equity for all Illinois residents!
